Do you want to publish several good articles per week?
Do you take hours to write just a blog article?
Are you looking for a way to finish your articles faster?
If you start as a blogger, it is sometimes painful to spend hours on a simple blog post when you see others writing several in less time.
Do not be afraid.
In this article you can learn that ten tricks used by pros to speed up their writing and produce good quality articles.
These tips are easy to learn if you are someone engaged.
We do not have much time, so let's start.
1 - Separate Search for Writing
The search is fun. You have to read dozens of blogs, browse Wikipedia and click from one site to another. The hours pass. You do not write anything.
Most editors do not do both at the same time. Spend time researching your blog article, taking notes, using the right tools and getting any information you need.
Then, close your browser, unplug the Internet and do nothing else than write.
If, while you are writing, you think of a fact you need to check, whatever you do do not stop writing.
Instead, put a note in your blog post with an X or with an asterisk. Then when you have finished this first draft, go ahead and check this point. The idea is to get this first draft of your head and put it on "paper" (or on the page). You can always return and confirm your arguments when you do the correction work.
2 - Write now, correct after
Stephen King says, "writing is human, correcting is divine. "
The work of correction consists in this when you take this first messy draft of your blog article, rework it and are ready for the world. However, the correction is also part of later in the drafting process.
Professional writers do not stop after each sentence to see if they have done it right.
Well, maybe some of them do. Productive professional editors come out this first messy rough draft on the page. Then, when this rough draft is complete, they come back on it, read what they have written and correct.
If you stop after each sentence to edit and refine your blog post, it will take hours to get up to the button to publish. Instead, write the entire article, then edit.
3 - Make a Plan
Before you write, divide your blog article into several different sections using a pen and a paper.
This includes :
- Intro
- Body of text
- conclusion
The body of the text can be in two or three other sections and, if you are writing a long article, include additional sections to make the transition from one part to another. Note a single word or theme for each section.
Detailed in-depth these themes or points. Note what you mean in the conclusion and introduction. Now use this plan for your article.
This will take ten to twenty minutes and will prevent this horrible moment when you realize you have written five hundred or a thousand words that will not bind your readers.
4 - Are you stuck? Write your conclusion fairly early
Your conclusion is where you gather your thoughts in several short but succinct sentences. This is also where calls for action are used.
Writing the conclusion sooner will help you focus on the narrative of your article.
Record the main points. Explain exactly what you said and why it is true. It does not matter if you have not quite proved your point. This is a minor concern and you can arrange it after writing the conclusion.
5 - Write your last introduction
All the great editors say how important it is to take care of this first line. Your first lines count. This is what convinces the reader to continue.
Write the introduction after you have finished doing research, writing and correcting your article. This way, you will know exactly what your job is what you have to say in the first place.
6 - Forget to be perfect
Do you write literature?
No. So do not worry if your blog post is not perfect. This does not mean you can escape the shells, bad grammar and spelling mistakes in your posts.
Instead, accept that you are not going to be able to cover everything and say exactly what you mean.
Now your blog articles will have space to grow
The beauty of writing on the web is that it is always possible to correct your work if you make a mistake.
7 - Practice as an Olympian
There are swimmers like Michael Phelps and runners like Usain Bolt who train up to eight hours a day.
The more you practice something and the quicker you can get there.
If you write every day, it will be natural to write a thousand words before you eat your breakfast. If you write a blog article once a month, it will take several hours to produce something worthy for your readers.
If you start as a blogger and find that your progress is slow, accept it. If you continue to make efforts, you will become faster and you will write better.
8 - Set a timer
Set an alarm for thirty minutes. Work on your item without stopping or doing anything else until the sounds of the alarm.
You can use this half hour of time for a task related to your article such as writing, correcting your article in WordPress. If this helps, you can challenge yourself to reach a certain number of words before the sounds of the alarm.
9 - Stop Writing
Yes, this sounds against intuitive, but some days, when you're stuck, you're stuck.
Stand up from the desk. Go to rest, take a walk, prepare dinner, eat, drink, do not really think at all of HTML, or social networks. Do not exhaust yourself .
So later, when you're less stressed, freer in your head, pick up what you were working on.
10 - Organize your searches and notes
Research takes time.
So I save my notes, ideas and searches in Evernote. I keep :
- Blog posts
- quotes
- statistics
You do not have to use Evernote but have a tool or system for your search, ideas and your notes will make it easier for you to find them later when you really need it.
This means you can spend less time researching and more time writing.
Are you ready?
Write ask for work, but do not spend all your days thinking about it.
